Where Strength Meets Serenity in the Canadian Rockies
It all started with Magnus Titan, a Norwegian mountaineer who fell head over heels for these peaks. He wasn't looking to build a hotel - honestly, he just wanted a place where climbers could crash after a brutal day on the mountain without freezing their butts off.
During a basement expansion (yeah, we were literally digging around), we stumbled onto natural hot springs. Total accident. Magnus's daughter Elena was like, 'well, guess we're a spa now too.' That discovery changed everything - suddenly we weren't just about adrenaline, but actual relaxation.
Third generation took over and thought, why can't you have both - serious mountain adventure AND five-star comfort? Rebuilt the whole place but kept Magnus's original stone fireplace. It's still the heart of our main lodge, and yeah, guests always end up there with a whisky after dinner.
We've come a long way from that climbers' cabin, but we haven't forgotten what matters. Every morning, our chef uses herbs from the same garden Elena planted in '73. The trails Magnus mapped are still the ones we take guests on. We're fancier now, sure - but we're still the same place at heart.
Look, we're not gonna pretend we're perfect, but we've spent nearly 80 years figuring out what actually works up here in the mountains.
Not your typical hotel rooms - these are legit suites with floor-to-ceiling windows. Wake up to peaks, not parking lots.
Each suite comes with heated floors (trust us, you'll appreciate this), a soaking tub that faces the mountain, and blackout curtains for when you actually need to sleep past sunrise.
The hot springs we accidentally found? They're still flowing, still perfect temp, still the best way to end a day.
Open year-round, even in -30C weather. We've also got massage therapists who actually know what they're doing - not just random spa stuff, but real sports therapy for sore muscles.
Chef Andre's been with us for 15 years. He does this thing with Alberta beef that'll make you forget you ever ate a steak before.
Wine cellar's got over 800 bottles - yeah, we counted. Breakfast isn't some sad buffet either, it's made-to-order because we're not animals.
Our guides know these mountains like their own backyard - because it basically is. They grew up here.
Whether you want an easy hike or a multi-day backcountry trip, they'll sort you out. They've also got all the gear you'd need, so don't stress about packing everything.
We could keep talking about ourselves all day, but you should probably just come visit. The mountains aren't going anywhere, and neither are we.
